Electronic Voice Phenomena: Recorders

by Arthur Matos | E-Mail

This article is concerning what's called Electronic Voice Phenomena, (EVP). It will deal withEPIC Digital Audio Recorder EVP the different types of aspects and recorders used in conjunction with this phenomenon.

This web site was created to make paranormal investigators as well as curious persons to simply understand these things without all the complex technical jargon that comes along from other web sites. We will discuss the simplicity of the item yet keep its complexity to a minimum.

There is no doubt that a voice recorder is an essential part of a paranormal investigators equipment. It not only helps to do EVPs but it also helps to keep notes and interviews with a client. The voices that are captured on recorder's are apparently sonic in nature, at least as far as we know. These voices and sounds could theoretically be imprinted onto a recording device by what I call magnetic residual imprint, (MRI). This simply means that an entity by theory is working on this plane of existence on another frequency, and uses that frequency to somehow imprint a audible pattern on the recorder.

Is this why they move so quickly? Is this why their EVPs are mostly verbally unrecognizable? Well as they say, there are no experts and I'm surly not claiming to be one, but think about it this way: a presence that acts, moves and converses in a totally different manner from us. Do they see us and hear as we see and hear them? Possibly so.

There are many types of recorders, in this chapter we will briefly be discussing two:  the Analog and the Digital.

EPIC Micro-44 VoxThere is much to be said about the analog recorder. It has been used for EVP recording for the longest time and they have been quite successful. These recorders work on recording sounds that are emitted and picked up out of thin air. Many scientific ordinances will argue the fact that these sounds are only a manifestation of ones own imagination and being created from the sound of what is also called white noise, a static frequency used in helping capture EVP's if necessary.

Analog recorders use magnetic tape, the same way as a video Hi 8 or Mini DV camcorder but that's another chapter.

Magnetic tape is theoretically known in the paranormal field to capture EVPs because they can record audio on an extremely low frequency, and this is one of the frequencies that entities are believed to work on. By asking your question and waiting at least 7 to 10 seconds (recommended) before the response. You may or may not hear it audibly, but may be caught on the magnetic tape on the recorder.

EPIC Olympus WS-100As far as the Digital, this is something new that the group has been working with for some time and since the group had the same results as with the analog, all I have to say is that the digital has a wonderfully longer recording time and it's clarity is much better. The fact of the matter is that in this day and age of technology, the digital recorder is a much better tool, due to the fact that you can clean up the audio and eliminate the hiss factor and the white noise more clearly then you could on an analog with a good audio PC program.

The recorders that the EPIC Team likes to use and have had great results with is the Analog (Radio Shack Micro-44 VOX) and the Digital (Olympus WS-100).

So just to recap, Paranormal Investigators that work on a scientific basis as we do don't really have all the answers as to how these phenomena work in applying themselves in the realm of the living. All we can do is speculate and theorize, putting all our heads together and not fighting over who's right or wrong.

We have to work together. Then and only then can we prove to the scientific community that this is a worthy science to follow and fund.
