Infrared Cameras

Infrared
Cameras are used in many facets of night vision surveillance, as well as in security and covert applications, due to their nature of being able to illuminate in zero lux (total darkness).
IR Cameras are very functional when it comes to this, however we are here to discuss the use of this device in the paranormal field and how it's applied to the work.
There are many types of Infrared cameras that range from high resolution to
cameras that are able to hold a multitude of infrared LED's (light emitting
diodes). These cameras are able to illuminate multiple rooms in their entirety. IR
Cameras can range from price from a couple of hundred to a few thousand dollars each. This will all depend on the nature of your investigations, whether you are investigating an apartment or whether you are investigating a facility (e.g.,
museums, old jails, sanatoriums).
Infrared Camera are made up from very simple to very complex
systems. The more average camera consists of multiple infrared LED's and a basic single zoom lens. This
unit (based on a 48 LED Camera) is able to illuminate and see about 35 feet distance and is a great camera when used in a home setting,
(avg. room is about 19' x 25' ). These devices are of course based on hard wire cameras, which means that there is a camera cord and power cord attached to
them. However, there are wireless systems as well, but we'll discuss this another time.
IR Cameras can be very tricky in paranormal investigation due to their pixelation and
signals; they can make a dust particle seem like orbs and vice versa, if you're not experienced at determining what's what. They can also be a wonderful tool in paranormal
investigations and are available from many sources. The technology that has been available to us for the use in the paranormal field has been a gift to
investigators. There are no specific devices that can detect ghosts and tell us when they will appear, but paranormal investigators have taken devices from other fields and have applied them to this wonderful field. Hopefully one day we will have a camera available to us that will capture the true essence of an entity.
For now we just have to use what we have and is available to us, so use that equipment correctly and carefully, but have fun with it as well.
