The Team

PRIMARY MISSION

The Eastern Paranormal Investigation Center, or EPIC, is a group founded and formed to help individuals, families or businesses who believe they may be experiencing paranormal phenomenon. Based on Staten Island, NY, but servicing all of NYC and the surrounding areas, EPIC Paranormal is made up of like-minded individuals who use a scientific approach and methodology in searching for possible evidence, as well as informing and educating clients as to the possible causes of their experiences, paranormal or otherwise.

EPIC Paranormal uses skepticism as a tool, but we will always investigate a case with an open mind. We are always objective upon entering a location. While we try to find proof of your claim, our investigators will always first try to find rational answers to the events that have been suspected as paranormal. We do not look for ghosts. We look for rational explanations. Only when we are left without an explanation do we consider a case to possibly be paranormal.

All of the work that EPIC does is conducted with structured investigative methods, as well as integrating the use of sophisticated scientific electronic equipment. We only use scientific measures in our investigations and we never use unreliable or subjective tools such as Ouija boards, mediums or séances as a means to either contact or prove spirit activity.

Meet the Team

The EPIC team is a group of credible, knowledgeable, and well-educated individuals. We approach all cases with the utmost level of professionalism, as well as the highest respect for your residence, personal assets, and privacy. EPIC Paranormal always operates under total discretion and keeps all cases strictly confidential unless permission is otherwise granted.

Arthur Matos, Founder & Lead Investigator | E-Mail
Arthur is the Founder and Lead Investigator of EPIC Paranormal. The 37 year old was born and raised in New York and currently resides on Staten Island. His interests in Demonology and Pagan religions started at a young age, which then lead him to branch out into paranormal research and investigation. Being a science major led Arthur to take a more scientific approach to paranormal investigation. Aside from an arsenal of favorite tools of the trade, Arthur's favorite tool is rationality. He comments; "Making sense of things is what this field is often about".

Arthur makes a living as a Manager/Interior Designer for a large, well-known furniture store in NYC. He has over 15 years of experience of the paranormal and related theories, and hopes to one day see it become a prominent branch of science pursued by others.

Arthur has dedicated much of his time and effort in creating one of the Northeast's most scientifically-minded teams in research and investigative methods regarding paranormal activity, hauntings, and ghosts.

Jason Stroming, Co-Founder, Lead Investigator & Webmaster | E-Mail
Jason is the co-founder of EPIC. His interest in the paranormal began at an early age, and he has dedicated most of his free time to researching and investigating the unexplained. He is also the creator, editor, contributing author, and webmaster of TheUnexplained.net in addition to this site. He is 33 years old, lives on Staten Island, N.Y., with his wife and son, and works as a Human Resources Recruiter for a large Wall Street law firm, handling recruitment and other human resources issues. Laura Pennace, Co-Founder, Case Manager & Investigator | E-Mail
Laura is 24 years old and grew up in Central Massachusetts. She attended NYU where she graduated in 2005 with a dual degree in history and journalism. She's been fascinated with the paranormal for nearly her whole life, stemming from an experience she had as a child. As a history major, Laura specialized in American history, and loves researching and learning about new locations. By being a part of EPIC, Laura can combine two of her passions while helping those in need.

James Bricks, Lead Historian & Investigator | E-Mail
James, 22 years old and a native Staten Islander, is currently a history major at the College of Staten Island. His interest in the paranormal began at an early age, largely due to the fact that his family had a deep interest in the subject as well. James hopes that his involvement in EPIC will not only satisfy his curiosity, but that his involvement and what he brings to the proverbial table will help satisfy the curiosity of many others as well.
